European Efficiency Labelling Scheme

Manufacturers representing 80% of the European production of electric motors have agreed to the scheme which establishes three efficiency bands or classes (Eff1, Eff2 and Eff3), for standard TEFV 2 and 4 pole motors in the power range 1.1 to 90kW.

Qualifying motors:
TEFV, 3-phase, squirrel cage induction motors
2 & 4 pole
Outputs 1.1 to 90kW
Rated for 400 volts, 50 Hz, S1 duty
Standard design, defined as N, given in EN600 34-12 and HD 231

How the Scheme Operates:
For each standard motor output, two values of full load efficiency are given.
Outputs as defined in IEC34. Efficiencies as measured according to IEC60034-2 (1972) + Amendment 1 (1995) and Amendment 2 (1996)These define three bands of efficiency level designated,

EFF1 EFF2 EFF3

Motors are labelled accordingly on rating plates, also added to technical data tables in manufacturers' catalogues. In addition, Brook Crompton, with most of its motors in the higher bands, will give greater visibility by placing stickers on motors.
